January program – Amelia Sie plays Bach, Biber, and Rust

The January program by Just Bach Concerts featured violinist Amelia Sie performing Bach, Biber, and Rust. The program concluded with the bass recit and aria from BWV 32, โHier, in meines Vaters Stรคtteโ. Amelia was joined by baritone Ryne Cherry, cellist Charlie Rasmussen and organist Mark Brampton Smith.
Just Bach Concerts was founded to celebrate and to share with the Madison community at large the immense range of Bachโs vocal and instrumental repertoire. Just Bach Concerts presents performers who play and sing using historically-informed performance practice, bringing the music to life in a manner and style with which Bach was familiar. The audience is invited to sing along during the closing chorales โ because group singing is therapeutic!
Since 2018, Just Bach Concerts has presented their โMidday Seriesโ at Luther Memorial Church, a free concert series that celebrates the music of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries. This concert series is part of โMusic at Middayโ, a long running Wednesday concert series held from September to May at Luther Memorial Church in Madison.
We are extremely grateful to Pastor Brad Pohlman, music director Andrew Schaeffer, and the congregation of Luther Memorial Church for hosting Music at Midday, and for including Just Bach Concerts as a regular part of the series. Special thanks go to Dave Parminter, who records the videos. We invite the Madison community to spend a half-hour with the sublime music of J.S. Bach and hope you will find our performances of Bachโs music to be centering and inspiring.
Thank you for supporting Just Bach Concerts!
